Glucomannan as a fat burner and Probiotic
Glucomannan is great for appetite suppression.
It’s a natural fiber taken from the roots of a plant called konjac, which grows in tropical eastern Asia.
When consumed, the fiber swells in your stomach to promote feelings of fullness, meaning you should feel less desire to eat after each Leanbean dose.
Glucomannan has been approved for weight loss in the context of an energy restricted diet.
And this effect has been confirmed by many studies as well as regulatory bodies in the EU.
Dietary fiber like glucomannan was found to regulate ghrelin levels, a hormone associated with body weight regulation (3).
It was found to reduce the energy intake from foods, meaning fewer calories ingested (4).
It was also found to reduce cholesterol (5).
As it’s a fairly niche ingredient, we are sometimes asked whether it’s safe.

Chromium for weight loss
Chromium has been approved for maintenance of normal blood glucose concentrations.
This element is used by the body as part of your glucose tolerance factor, or GTF.
The GTF is responsible for using and storing the sugar in your blood.
A diet deficient in chromium is associated with incorrect levels of insulin and blood sugar.
And because insulin helps your body to manage the sugar in your blood (7), it’s important to get the balance right.
Ingredients with unfamiliar names can sometimes put people off, too.
But the ingestion of chromium picolinate – the form used in Leanbean – “would not be of concern provided that the amount of total chromium does not exceed 250μg [micrograms] per day.” (8)
Leanbean’s daily dose of chromium is safely under this limit.
Natural caffeine (Green Coffee)
There’s more to caffeine than boosted energy levels.
This famous compound that fuels the western world has also been shown to improve endurance capacity and alertness.
In one study, participants who had caffeine showed faster performance times and stronger workout power (9). Some had neat caffeine, others had coffee: The effect was the same for both.
But what does this mean for weight loss?
Good question. It means more energy for working out, and better endurance to work out for longer.
Caffeine will boost your metabolic rate, too (10). “Metabolic rate increased significantly during the 3hr after caffeine ingestion”, is what one study had to say.
Vitamin B for metabolism
There are two B vitamins in Leanbean: B6 and B12.
Why does Leanbean include both?
Vitamin B6 contributes to a normal energy yielding metabolism, and to normal protein and glycogen metabolism.
Or in simple terms,
It helps your body to get the fuel it needs to do everything from the ingredients in the food you eat.
Vitamin B12 also contributes to a normal energy yielding metabolism, and is also associated with a reduction of tiredness of fatigue as well as normal function of the immune system.
This means more energy to fuel an active lifestyle.
A scientific opinion published about the vitamin concluded “that a cause and effect relationship has been established between the dietary intake of vitamin B6 and contribution to normal energy-yielding metabolism”, and “reduction in tiredness and fatigue.” (11)
Cayenne pepper – Thermogenic Benefits
A chemical called capsaicin is found in cayenne, and it has been found to have metabolic benefits.
In studies carried out on rats, this effect has been proven.
Human studies have shown promising results, although for now the weight loss properties are technically theoretical.
Cayenne has been found to increase fat oxidation in humans (12), meaning a slight increase in the amount of calories burned after consumption.
But it’s important to note that the metabolic properties of cayenne haven’t been approved by any industry body, and the benefits are not easy to fully validate due to conflicting research.
Garcinia Cambogia – Weight loss hype?
This is a popular ingredient amongst dieters.
But is it just a case of weight loss hype?
The answer to this question is probably not. Garcinia cambogia has been the subject of many scientific studies, and weight loss benefits have been found.
One study concluded that Garcinia Cambogia extract “can cause short-term weight loss”, with “statistically significant difference in weight loss” compared to placebo conditions (13).
Another found that the group of participants taking the extract “had significantly reduced” body fat levels compared with the placebo group, after a period of 16 weeks (14).
There is speculation that it has an impact on appetite, too. Garcinia Cambogia “may prove beneficial in controlling appetite”, said one study (15), although this has not been established as a cause and effect.
In isolation the dose of Garcinia Cambogia included in Leanbean will not necessarily cause weight loss alone, however that’s not to say there aren’t possible synergistic benefits to pairing this ingredient with other proven substances.
